Psychedelic burglar related world-pop from an innercity forest in Leeds" The Leeds based Roguish triplet came together through a meeting of musical ideas at a course run by local charity Cloth Cat. The common desire to create a tight unit to play quirky yet accessible, sometimes cheeky songs, led to an exchange in ideas between the three members. With strong influences from the 60s + 70s pop / psychedelia, folk, jazz, afrobeat, dub, reggae and other Global sounds; the resulting songs come across as catchy, well written and slightly lo-fi, yet not really sounding like anything but Digo, Karim and Woody. Reaction and reviews: Classic British songwriting first up from Roguish Stranger, with hints of The Kinks and Belle & Sebastian among others. Lightweight, but packed with melody, poetry and twee goodness. Really like the production as it’s full of twinkly layers and swirly organs, but tinny enough to let you know it was mostly plucked by quality musicians on real pieces of wood/metal. Love the sounds you guys are putting out. There's a great freshness to your music...not enough of it around these days Roguish Stranger MP3 tracks |
